WritersMosaic presents: a celebration of James Baldwin’s centenary
A hundred years after the birth of writer and activist James Baldwin, WritersMosaic presented an evening of discussion at the British Library
James Baldwin – who was born on this day, 2nd August, 100 years ago – once said that to be a black person in America was to be “in a state of rage almost all of the time.”
Decades after his death, that sentiment, echoed in many countries in the West, still resonates.
Earlier this year WritersMosaic, in collaboration with the Eccles Institute at the British Library, gathered a group of musicians and writers together – including Vanessa Kisuule, Mendez and Chitra Ramaswamy – to celebrate James Baldwin’s centenary.

Love James Baldwin and largely because of my wife. If you haven't seen Maya Angelou interview James Baldwin, you must. Coincidentally (or not), my wife and I watched that interview (for the umpteenth time) again last night. Deep and inspiring. I can't share the link as my work (balls, chains, pain) computer does not allow this worker bee to access such things. They haven't found out about Substack yet....shhh....
